Compare two image versions
to see what changed.
You’ve added a fix as a new version, and you want to check exactly what changed before it goes to your client.
By the end, you’ll have compared two versions of an image with the slider and side by side, and know when only Side by Side is offered.
Before you start
- An image asset with at least two versions.
- Access to the asset’s Files & versions.

Compare two image versions to see what changed.
Alex Morgan added the fixed winter label as V2 of the same asset. Check the fix before it goes to the client.
Open Files and versions. Each image version has a compare checkbox.
Tick V1, then V2. The one you tick first goes on the left.
Click Compare.
It opens in Slider mode: V1 on the left, V2 on the right.
Drag the handle across the headline. V1, on the left, has the typo. V2, on the right, is spelled correctly. Nothing else changes.
Switch to Side by Side to see both versions whole. Zoom in, and both sides zoom together.
The slider needs the size of both images and a similar shape; otherwise only Side by Side is offered. Comparison is for images only, not PDFs or videos.
Versions of different variants of one image can be compared too.
In short: tick two image versions in Files and versions, and click Compare. The slider checks one detail; Side by Side shows both in full.
Search across all videos and guides.
See the change, not just the new file.
Alex Morgan has added the fixed Harbor & Pine winter label as V2 of the same asset: V1 had a typo in the headline. Before the fix goes to the client, Alex compares the two versions to check that the headline is right and nothing else moved.
Comparison works on two image versions of one asset, with a slider or side by side. Sign in to YetOnePro and open an image asset with at least two versions to follow along.
- 01
Open the fixed version
Open the asset from the library. It opens on its current version, here V2 with the corrected headline. To add a fix as a new version first, see Keep file revisions together with version history.
- 02
Tick two versions
Open Files & versions. Above the list, it reads Select 2 image versions to compare, and each image version has a compare checkbox.
Tick V1, then V2. After the first one, the line reads Select 1 more image version; after the second, 2 versions selected. The version you tick first goes on the left. Clear unticks both.
- 03
Check one detail with the slider
Click Compare. The Version Comparison window opens in Slider mode, with V1 on the left and V2 on the right. The labels under it say which is which.
Drag the handle across the part you fixed. Here V1, on the left, has the typo, and V2, on the right, is spelled correctly. Nothing else changes.
- 04
See both whole with Side by Side
Switch to Side by Side to see both versions in full. Click Zoom in, and both sides zoom together, so you can check small details at the same spot.
- 05
When the slider isn’t offered
The slider lays one image over the other, so it needs the size of both images and a similar aspect ratio. Otherwise only Side by Side is offered; hover over Slider to see why it’s off.
Comparison is for images only, not PDFs or videos. Versions of different variants of one image can be compared too. Close the window when you’re done.
Your client compares versions in the portal, too: in a new review, they compare a revised asset with the version from their last review. See Send a revised version back for approval. In short: tick two image versions in Files & versions, and click Compare. The slider checks one detail; Side by Side shows both in full.
Check the result
- You ticked two image versions in Files & versions.
- You opened the comparison with Compare.
- You dragged the slider across the part that changed.
- You checked both versions whole in Side by Side.
If it didn’t work
I don’t see the compare checkboxes.
Comparison needs at least two image versions. With only one, Files & versions shows a tip to upload a second image version.
Slider is grayed out.
The slider needs the size of both images and a similar aspect ratio. Hover over Slider to see why it’s off; Side by Side still works.
Compare is disabled.
Both versions must be images. PDFs and videos can’t be compared this way.
Can I compare versions from different variants?
Yes. Versions of different variants of one image can be compared too.
