By the end, you’ll have sent a client review from the project, seen what your client gets, and found their answer on the Overview, in View feedback and on the Reviews tab.

Before you start

  • A project with your client as a contact, and its client portal. See “Give your client one portal for project files.”
  • Deliverables with an asset attached. See “Plan client deliverables, deadlines, and owners.”
  • A role that can run client reviews. Owner and Project Manager can by default.

WRITTEN GUIDE

One review, one answer per asset.

Alex Morgan has work ready for Maya Chen at Harbor & Pine in the “Harbor & Pine launch” project. Alex sends a client review from the project. Maya approves or asks for changes on each asset in the project’s client portal, and her answer comes back to the project.

A client review runs through the project’s client portal, which is always password-protected. Only the project contacts who are the portal’s recipients can decide. Sign in to YetOnePro and open a project to follow along.

  1. 01

    Check the project is ready

On the project’s Overview, your client is the client contact, here Maya Chen, and each deliverable you want judged has an asset attached. In the video, the shelf mockup has no asset yet.

Client visibility shows the project’s portal. This one is a Restricted portal: it has a password, and Maya is its 1 recipient.

Want a teammate to look first? See Get an internal check before sending work to your client. It’s optional, and it never counts as your client’s approval.
  2. 02

    Choose what to send

In the Client review card, click Prepare client review. Under Files to include, each checked deliverable sends the exact asset version attached to it, the version your client will judge.

A deliverable without an asset can’t be included: it says “Attach a file to include this deliverable.” Uncheck anything that isn’t ready for the client yet, here the launch spot.

  3. 03

Set the deadline, message and recipients

The Deadline defaults to three days out. Next to it is what the client is told: finish by then to keep the delivery target. Under Message to client, add a short note.

With Notify clients when review opens, starting the review emails the portal’s contacts, here just Maya. Opening a review doesn’t change who can access the portal.

  4. 04

    Start the review

Click Start review & email clients. The card now reads Review 1 · Awaiting client.

Remind emails your client again, at most once every 12 hours. Record client feedback is for answers that come by email, on a call or in a meeting; see Record an approval your client gave by email.
  5. 05

    Your client gets the email

Maya gets “Client review is open — Harbor & Pine launch”. It names the project, carries your message and the deadline, and links to the portal with Open client review.

There’s no password in it. Her existing portal access still applies.

  6. 06

Your client signs in to the portal

On Protected Portal, Maya enters the portal password and clicks Access Portal. The portal is limited to its contacts, so she confirms her email address too.

  7. 07

    Review 1 in the portal

The review sits at the top: Review 1, the deadline and your message. Each asset has Approve and Changes. When every asset has a decision, your client finishes the review and submits it.

What your client sees, from the email to the review at the top, is in Review work your creative team sent you. Pinning what should change is in Show your team exactly what needs to change, and deciding and submitting in Approve work, or send it back with changes.

  8. 08

See the answer on the Overview

In the video, Maya approves the key visual, asks for changes on the front label, and submits. Back in the studio, her answer is already on the Overview, without a reload.

The Client review card shows the last review: 1 approved · 1 changes requested. The approved key visual is delivered: it leaves Work in motion, and the portal now holds one file. The front label shows under Needs attention, with 1 action.

  9. 09

    Open View feedback

Under Needs attention, click View feedback. The deliverable shows your client’s decision on the version they reviewed, their reason, and when the revision is due. View reviewed version & comments opens exactly that version.

  10. 10

    Check the Reviews tab

The project’s Reviews tab keeps every review, here Review 1 · Completed, and under Revision cycles, the revision round that the requested changes opened.

In short: attach assets, prepare the review from the Client review card, and your client decides in the password-protected portal. Only project contacts get the review. A public portal, or a domain-code sign-in, can show files, but can’t decide.

Check the result

  • The deliverables you want judged have an asset attached and are checked in Prepare client review.
  • The deadline and message are set, and your client is a recipient.
  • The Client review card says Review 1, awaiting client.
  • After your client submits, the Overview, View feedback and the Reviews tab show the answer.

If it didn’t work

I can’t check a deliverable in Prepare client review.

It has no asset attached. Attach a file to include this deliverable.

Who can approve or request changes?

Only the project contacts who are the portal’s recipients, signed in to the password-protected project portal. A public portal, or a sign-in with a domain code, can show the files but can’t decide.

Does the email include the portal password?

No. The email links to the portal with Open client review, and your client’s existing portal access still applies. Send the password separately if they don’t have it.

My client hasn’t answered yet.

On the Client review card, Remind emails them again, once every 12 hours at most.

My client answered by phone or in a meeting.

Use Record client feedback on the Client review card to record their answer.

Does starting a review change who can access the portal?

No. Starting the review emails the portal’s contacts; it doesn’t add or remove anyone.
