Let clients preview files.
Keep the originals until it’s approved.
Get client feedback on work in progress without handing over the original file before it’s approved.
By the end, you’ll have shared an asset For review with downloads off, checked what your client sees and what Sharing says, and shared it For handoff once it was approved.
Before you start
- An asset to share, and your client in Contacts. See “Keep your client contacts in one place.”
- A role that can create shares. Owner and Project Manager can by default.

Want feedback before you deliver? Share for review: your client sees the work, and the original file isn't offered for download.
Open the asset, go to Asset usage and choose Share asset. Pick Specific people and add your client from your contacts.
Share it For review. Your client can view and comment. It expires in thirty days, with no downloads.
Under Customize, Allow downloads stays off. That's the switch for the original file.
Share it, and your client gets an invite by email.
Your client opens the invite and asks for a one-time code.
The code arrives by email.
Enter it, and the asset opens.
They see the full image, can view it at real size, and check the file details.
But there's no Download button. The original file isn't offered, so the review happens right here.
In Sharing, open your client's access. Allow downloads: No. You choose this when you share.
Once the work is approved, share it again: pick your client and choose For handoff. Downloads are on, for seven days.
From the new invite, your client can now download the asset.
In short: For review lets clients view and comment without downloading the original. Allow downloads is set when you share. When it's time to deliver, share For handoff.

Feedback first, files after approval.
Alex Morgan wants feedback from Maya Chen at Harbor & Pine on the billboard key visual before delivering it. Alex shares it For review, so Maya can see the work and comment, but the original file isn’t offered for download. Once Maya approves, Alex shares it again For handoff.
Two things to know up front. Allow downloads is set when you create a share and can’t be changed later, so the handoff is a second share. And For review doesn’t stop screenshots: it means the original file isn’t offered for download. Sign in to YetOnePro and open an asset to follow along.
- 01
Start a share for your client
Open the asset and go to the Asset usage tab. Click Share asset. Under audience, pick Specific people, then Choose contact and start typing your client’s name. Pick them from your contacts, here Maya Chen.
Who can share. Creating a share needs a role that can create shares. Owner and Project Manager can by default. - 02
Choose For review
Under Share as, choose For review: “View and leave comments,” with Expires in 30 days · No downloads. Your client can view the asset and comment on it.
- 03
Check Allow downloads
Open Customize. Allow downloads, “Recipients can download the original file,” stays off. That’s the switch for the original file. You can also change the expiry here before you share.
- 04
Share it
Click Share. You’ll see Share created: “Recipients will receive an email shortly.” Your client gets an invite by email.
- 05
Your client opens the invite
Your client clicks View Shared Asset in the invite. They’re asked to Verify your email and request a one-time code. The code arrives by email; they enter it, and the asset opens.
- 06
What your client sees
Your client sees the full image. They can switch to Real size to check details, go back with Fit to screen, and open Info for the file details, such as the Image specs and resolution.
- 07
No Download button
Next to the file name there’s no download button. The original file isn’t offered, so the review happens right there, in comments on the asset.
- 08
Check the access in Sharing
Open Sharing, click the asset’s row, and open your client’s access. It shows what they can do, for example Permission: Can comment and Allow downloads: No, with the expiry date.
Sharing shows Allow downloads but doesn’t change it. You choose it when you share.
- 09
Share For handoff once it’s approved
When the work is approved, share it again. Click Share asset, pick Specific people and your client, and choose For handoff: “View and download the assets,” with Expires in 7 days · Downloads on. Click Share.
- 10
Your client downloads the asset
Your client opens the new invite. In the same browser they’re already verified, so the asset opens without another code, and next to the file name there’s now a download button: Download in different formats.
In short: For review lets clients view and comment without downloading the original. Allow downloads is set when you share. When it’s time to deliver, share For handoff.
Check the result
- The share is For review, and Allow downloads is off.
- Your client opened the asset with a one-time code and sees no Download button.
- In Sharing, your client’s access says Allow downloads: No.
- After approval, a new For handoff share lets your client download the asset.
If it didn’t work
Can I turn on downloads for the share I already sent?
No. Allow downloads is set when you create a share, and Sharing only shows it. Share the asset again and choose For handoff.
Does this stop screenshots?
No. For review means the original file isn’t offered for download. Your client still sees the full image on screen.
My client says they didn’t get a code.
The code goes to the email address you shared with. Ask them to check spam, then request a new code from the invite.
What does For review allow?
Viewing and comments. It expires in 30 days, with no downloads. For handoff allows viewing and downloads, for 7 days. You can change these under Customize before you share.
