Find photos by location
on the map.
You remember where a shoot happened, but not when, or what the photos are called.
By the end, you’ll have found every asset shot in one city on the map, checked its coordinates, and kept the date filter free for you to set.
Before you start
- A YetOnePro workspace with photos that have GPS data, saved by the camera or phone.

Here's how to find photos by location on the map.
These photos were shot in Lisbon, Porto and Paris, and the camera saved each location in the file. This last one was taken with location turned off.
Open the view menu, and choose Map.
Countries with located assets light up: four assets in two countries. The photo without GPS data isn't on the map at all.
Click Portugal. The map zooms in, and the panel lists its cities: Lisbon and Porto.
Pick Lisbon. Both Lisbon photos are here, even though they were taken a month apart.
The map filters by place, not by date. Date taken stays on All dates until you pick a time yourself.
Open an asset, and its coordinates are under Location.
Go back, and click World to see every place again.
France has photos from just one city, so Paris is picked for you. Only the place is set; the date is still yours to choose.
In short: assets with GPS data appear on the map. Click a country, then a city, to see everything shot there.
Search across all videos and guides.
Find a shot by where it was taken.
Alex Morgan at Northstar Creative has new photos from Lisbon, Porto and Paris in the workspace. The camera saved each location in the file, so the map can sort them by place. One more photo was taken with location turned off, so it stays off the map.
Open Assets in your workspace to follow along.
- 01
Your photos
Assets get their location from the file’s GPS data, saved by the camera or phone when the photo was taken. An asset without GPS data doesn’t appear on the map.
- 02
Switch to Map
Open the view menu, which shows the current view, for example Masonry, and choose Map.
- 03
The world view
Countries with located assets light up, and the bar shows how many assets are in how many countries, for example “4 assets · 2 countries”. The note “Location-tagged assets only” is a reminder that assets without GPS data aren’t counted.
The map shows countries, not exact pins: precise asset positions are not shown. - 04
Pick a country
Click a country, for example Portugal. The map zooms in, and the panel lists its cities with the number of assets in each: Lisbon and Porto.
- 05
Pick a city
Pick a city, for example Lisbon. Every asset shot there is listed, even when they were taken a month apart.
- 06
Place, not date
The Location chip now names the city. The map filters by place only: Date taken stays on All dates until you pick a time yourself.
- 07
Coordinates on the asset
Open an asset. In the Info tab, under Image specs, its coordinates are listed under Location.
- 08
Back to World
Go back to the map, and click World in the bar to see every place again.
- 09
One city is picked for you
When a country has assets from just one city, that city is picked for you. Click France, and Paris is selected. Only the place is set; Date taken still shows all dates, and the time is yours to choose.
In short: assets with GPS data appear on the map. Click a country, then a city, to see everything shot there. To narrow by project, file type or the date a photo was taken instead, see Find the file even when you forgot what it’s called.
Check the result
- The Map view shows your countries lit up.
- After you pick a country and a city, the Location chip names the city.
- Date taken still reads All dates.
- The asset’s Info tab lists its coordinates under Location.
If it didn’t work
One of my photos isn’t on the map.
Its file has no GPS data, for example because location was turned off on the camera or phone. Only location-tagged assets appear on the map.
Can I see exactly where each photo was taken on the map?
No. The map shows countries and lists cities; precise asset positions are not shown. Open the asset to see its coordinates under Location.
Picking a city changed my date filter.
It doesn’t. The map filters by place only, even when it picks the only city for you. Date taken stays as you left it.
