By the end, you’ll have the file back in its original location with its comments, and you’ll know how long deleted items are kept.

Before you start

  • A YetOnePro workspace with a file in Assets (or one already in Trash).
  • A role that can delete and restore files: Owner and Project Manager can by default.

WRITTEN GUIDE

Deleted the wrong file? Bring it back.

The Northstar bottle image has two open comments on it, and it was removed by mistake. You don’t need to upload it again: deleted files wait in Trash before they are removed for good.

You’ll move a file to Trash, find it there, and restore it. The file returns to where it was, with its comments. Sign in to YetOnePro and open your workspace to follow along with any file in Assets.

  1. 01

    Move the file to Trash

Open the file from Assets and select the Info tab. Click Move to trash. A Remove Asset window asks you to confirm; click Remove.

The app returns to Assets, and the file is no longer listed.

  2. 02

    Open Trash

The file isn’t gone yet. Click Trash in the left sidebar.

  3. 03

    Read the row

Each deleted file shows its name, its Original location and its Scheduled removal: “In 30 days” and the date. The list starts with the items that will be removed soonest, so a file you just deleted is at the bottom.

30 days. Deleted items are kept for 30 days, then removed permanently. Restore a file before its removal date.
  4. 04

    Click Restore

Click Restore on the file’s row. After a few seconds the row disappears and a “File restored” message shows the file name. If the restore is still running after about 20 seconds, YetOnePro says it is restoring in the background.

  5. 05

    Check that everything came back

Open Assets: the file is back where it was. Open it and select the Comments tab. The comments are still there, exactly as they were.

  6. 06

    Folders and who can restore

Next to the Trash heading, switch Files to Folders to see deleted folders. A restored folder comes back with its contents.

By default, Owner and Project Manager can delete and restore. Media Producers can’t. If your role can only view Trash, you see the lists without Restore buttons.

Check the result

  • The file left Assets and appears in Trash with its original location and removal date.
  • After Restore, the row disappears from Trash and a “File restored” message appears.
  • The file is back in Assets and its comments are still there.

If it didn’t work

I don’t see the Restore button.

Your role can see Trash but not restore from it. Ask an Owner or Project Manager to restore the file, or to change your role. Media Producers can’t restore by default.

Restore is taking a long time.

Large files can take a while. If it is still running after about 20 seconds, YetOnePro tells you it is restoring in the background; the file reappears when it finishes.

It says “This item is no longer available to restore.”

Deleted items are kept for 30 days and then removed permanently. Once that date has passed, the item can’t be restored.
