Find assets with
missing required metadata.
Your required fields apply to new uploads, but older assets still have them empty, and you don’t know which ones.
By the end, you’ll know which required fields are missing on how many assets, and you’ll have filled them in until Analytics has nothing left to flag.
Before you start
- At least one required metadata field in Settings › Metadata.
- The permission to view workspace statistics, to open Analytics.

Here's how to find assets that are missing required details, and fill them in.
Required fields only apply to new uploads. To find older assets that are missing them, open Analytics, and switch the view to Library.
Required metadata needs attention lists each required field. Client is missing on three assets, and Photographer on two.
Choose View assets next to Client.
The asset list opens with a Missing: Client filter, showing just those three assets.
Open one of them.
Under Custom Metadata, Client and Photographer are both empty. Click Client, and pick Lumen Bay from the list.
Click Photographer, type the name, and press Enter.
Go back. The asset has left the filtered list, so two are left to fix.
Back in Analytics, under Library, Client is now missing on two assets, and Photographer on one.
In short: Analytics shows which required fields are missing, View assets lists those assets, and you fill each one in under Custom Metadata.
Search across all videos and guides.
Close the gaps that required fields leave behind.
Northstar Creative made Client and Photographer required, but required fields apply to new uploads only. A few older assets still have them empty. Alex Morgan finds those assets in Analytics and fills them in one by one.
Open Analytics in your workspace to follow along. To see Analytics, you need the permission to view workspace statistics. Setting up required fields is in Require file details at upload.
- 01
Open Analytics › Library
Open Analytics, and switch the view to Library.
- 02
See what’s missing
The Required metadata needs attention card lists each required field with how many assets are missing it, for example “Client is missing on 3 assets” and “Photographer is missing on 2 assets”.
- 03
View the assets
Choose View assets next to the field you want to fix, for example Client.
- 04
The filtered list
The asset list opens with the chip Missing: Client, showing only the assets where Client is empty.
This filter has no menu of its own in the filter bar. The way in is Analytics › Library › View assets. - 05
Open an asset
Open one of the assets in the list. Under Custom Metadata, an empty field shows “—”.
- 06
Fill in a list field
Click Client, and pick the value from the list, for example Lumen Bay.
- 07
Fill in a text field
Click Photographer, type the name, and press Enter. The value is saved.
- 08
Back to the list
Go back. The asset you filled in has left the filtered list, so only the ones still to fix remain.
- 09
Check Analytics again
Back in Analytics, under Library, the counts have gone down: Client is now missing on 2 assets, and Photographer on 1. Repeat until the card is gone.
In short: Analytics shows which required fields are missing, View assets lists those assets, and you fill each one in under Custom Metadata. Nothing is filled in for you.
Check the result
- Analytics › Library shows the Required metadata needs attention card.
- View assets opened the list with the Missing chip for that field, for example Missing: Client.
- The asset you filled in shows its values under Custom Metadata and has left the list.
- The counts in Analytics went down.
If it didn’t work
I can’t find a Missing filter in the filter bar.
It has no menu of its own. Open Analytics, switch to Library, and choose View assets next to the field.
I don’t see the Required metadata needs attention card.
Every asset has its required fields filled in, or the workspace has no required fields yet.
Can YetOnePro fill in the older assets for me?
No. Required fields apply to new uploads only. Fill in each older asset under Custom Metadata.
