Put a visible watermark on work you share.
Your team keeps the original.
Send a client a draft that clearly shows whose work it is, without giving them the clean original before it’s paid for or approved.
By the end, you’ll have set an image watermark style, shared an asset with Force on, and checked the marked copy your client sees while your team keeps the original.
Before you start
- An image asset to share, and your client in Contacts. See “Keep your client contacts in one place.”
- A role that can manage watermark settings and create shares. Owner and Project Manager can by default.
Watch the walkthrough
Sharing a draft with a client? Put a visible watermark on it. Your client sees a marked copy, and your team keeps the original.
Start in Settings, under Watermark. Image, Video, Audio and PDF each have their own style. Switch it on for images.
Type the text. The workspace variable becomes your workspace name.
Choose Tile to repeat it across the whole image, make the text bigger, and check the preview.
Save the style. On its own, a style doesn't mark anything. Rules apply it automatically, or you turn it on for a single share.
Now share the asset. In Asset usage, choose Share asset, pick Specific people and add your client.
Choose contact, type a name, and pick your client from the list.
Keep For review. Under Watermark, choose Force on. This share gets the watermark, even with no rules. The hint shows what's covered: here, only images.
Share it. Your client gets the invite by email.
On the asset, Watermark Protection says Preparing. For an image, that takes about ten seconds.
Now it's Active. Your team still works with the original. To see what your client gets, open the watermarked version.
Your client opens the invite and asks for a one-time code.
The code arrives by email.
Enter it, and the asset opens.
Even at real size, the watermark runs across the image. Your client gets the marked copy, not the original.
In short: set the style once per media type, then choose Force on when you share. Your team keeps the originals. A watermark shows whose work it is. It doesn't stop screenshots.

A marked copy for your client, the original for your team.
Alex Morgan is sending Maya Chen at Harbor & Pine a draft of the bottle hero image. Alex wants the draft to carry a visible watermark, so Alex sets a watermark style for images once and turns it on for this share. Maya gets a marked copy; Alex’s team keeps working with the original.
Two things to know up front. A style on its own doesn’t watermark anything: rules apply it automatically, or you choose Force on for a single share. And a watermark shows whose work it is, but it doesn’t stop screenshots. Sign in to YetOnePro and open an image asset to follow along.
- 01
Switch on a watermark style for images
Open Settings and go to Watermark. Image, Video, Audio and PDF each have their own style, on their own tab. Stay on Image and switch it from Off to On.
Only what you set up. A share watermarks only the media types that have a style switched on. In this guide that’s images. - 02
Type the watermark text
Under Watermark type, keep Text. In Text, type what the mark should say, for example {workspace} · For review. The available variables are {workspace}, which becomes your workspace name, and {date}.
Then lay it out. Under Position, choose Tile to repeat the text across the whole image, and make the Font size bigger. Opacity and Rotation start at 65% and -45°. Check the result in Preview.
- 03
Save the style
Click Save. You’ll see Watermark settings saved.
Saving the style doesn’t mark anything yet. Rules apply it automatically to the assets they cover, or you choose Force on in a share or portal. Either way, it also covers assets you uploaded earlier. This guide uses Force on; rules are set under Trigger Rules on the same page, with Manage rules. See “Watermark files automatically with rules.”
Storage. Watermarked files count twice toward your storage, at 2× the original file size. - 04
Start a share for your client
Open the asset and go to the Asset usage tab. Click Share asset. Under audience, pick Specific people, then Choose contact and start typing your client’s name. Pick them from your contacts, here Maya Chen.
- 05
Choose Force on under Watermark
Keep For review. Under Watermark, the share starts on Inherit, which follows your rules. With no rules, Inherit adds no watermark. Open the list and choose Force on: this share gets the watermark even with no rules.
The hint below says what’s covered. Here it’s “Only images will be watermarked. Video, Audio, PDF not configured.” Click Share. You’ll see Share created, and your client gets an invite by email.
Force off does the opposite: no watermark on this share, whatever your rules say. - 06
Wait for Watermark Protection to turn Active
Back on the asset, the Info tab shows Watermark Protection. It says Preparing… while the marked copy is made. For an image, it turns Active in about ten seconds.
- 07
Preview what your client gets
Your team still works with the original: the viewer shows the image without a mark. To see what your client gets, click Preview watermarked version. The Watermarked version window shows the image with your text tiled across it. This is what share and portal visitors see.
- 08
Your client opens the marked copy
Your client opens the invite and clicks View Shared Asset. They confirm their email and click Send code, then enter the one-time code that arrives by email, and the asset opens.
Even at Real size, the watermark runs across the image. Your client gets the marked copy, not the original.
In short: set the style once per media type, then choose Force on when you share. Your team keeps the originals. A watermark shows whose work it is. It doesn’t stop screenshots.
Check the result
- Settings › Watermark has an Image style switched on and saved.
- The share has Watermark set to Force on.
- Watermark Protection on the asset says Active.
- Preview watermarked version shows what your client gets.
- Your client sees the watermark; your team still sees the original.
If it didn’t work
I saved a style, but nothing is watermarked.
A style alone doesn’t watermark anything. Rules apply it automatically, or you choose Force on in a share or portal. Either way it covers the assets already uploaded, too.
Are videos and PDFs watermarked too?
Only media types with a style switched on. Image, Video, Audio and PDF each have their own style in Settings › Watermark. The hint under Watermark in the Share dialog says what this share covers, for example “Only images will be watermarked.”
Watermark Protection still says Preparing.
For an image it turns Active in about ten seconds. The share may take a moment to publish while the assets are processed.
Does a watermark stop screenshots?
No. A watermark is a visible mark that shows whose work it is. It isn’t a lock, and anyone can still take a screenshot of the marked copy.
Does the watermarked copy use storage?
Yes. Watermarked files count twice toward your storage, at 2× the original file size.
Does my team see the watermark?
No. Workspace members always see the original. The watermark is for share and portal visitors.
